Beijing 2008 Olympics: Thursday, May 17th

On our second Day in Beijing we took a bus tour of the city and saw what the Chinese have accomplished in the last 10 years. A new wave of Beijing began as they prepared for the world to see them at the 2008 Olympics. They began preparing 4 years earlier and took advantage of it as a due date for several transformations. Their goals included creating 150 new museums, cut back on the pollution and be the forefront in innovative architecture.  They accomplished these goals by the Olympics and I was able to also benefit from this because they still have a great pride in what they accomplished in those 4 years. While I can’t say the pollution is better because I have nothing to compare it to, the architecture and museums were wonderful. They were proof that China was moving into an era that accepts creative and innovative ideas and are pushing to be a great city of the world at a rate that was almost unconceivable.
