Clyde's Bookshop link
Clyde's bookshop is a web project for a small bookshop in Webster Groves, MO. The objective was to create a site that would allow the target audience (children and design-savvy grandparents) to navigate the site easily and have the style of the bookshop.
Clyde's Bookshop was definitely a struggle for me but I learned a lot and am better prepared for my next web project. I had too much pride in myself and decided to try to break the rules (a little) of web design before really understanding them. I wanted my navigation to be special with the large icons but it presented a lot of problems. Everything started to fight for attention because everything (the identity, navigation and featured photos) were all the same size and colors.
As I continued on past the home page, I had much better luck because I relied on the good, old rules of grid, hierarchy and typography to solve the problems.
I had a lot of fun with Clyde's but I learned that breaking the rules isn't so easy.
