To
get to Xian from Beijing we had to take a 12-hour train, it was an overnight
train and we had boards to sleep on. We had rooms with 4 of us each and we had
a lot of fun.
Once
we got to Beijing the next morning we went to the Xian museums and rode bikes
around the Xian wall. Most prominent cities had walls around them during the
dynasties. Xian’s wall is so massive that we could ride a bike around it and
see all that there was to see of the city. Each side was about a mile long. It
was a great way to see the city and have some fun.
Later
that night we went to a Chinese Show and experience some true tourism. We ate
interesting semi-delicious dumpling and a watched an almost-interesting show.
It was not very unique and the whole audience was western. Xian was the one
place we used a tourist company, which would explain the very touristy
experience. Tourist companies are ran by the government, like most everything
in China, and there for run to make the most money and don’t have to compete
with anyone to create the most desired show.
Later
that night, we found the positive side of the smog: spot lights flow all the
way to the edge of the sky because they have smog to reflect off of.
